Academy Coaching Staff

Academy Manager - Ross McKay

As Academy Manager Ross' role is to oversee the development of the Academy players and coaching staff at all 3 Academies. Ross is currently working through his UEFA 'A' Licence. and is also currently First Team Coach at Washington F.C. in the Ebac Northern League, with previous coaching experience at Manchester City Football Schools (Internationally) & Collegiate level both with Newcastle College and East Durham College. Ross was previously a professional with Blackburn Rovers, unfortunately being forced to retire through injury at 19.


Qualifications: 

UEFA 'A' Licence (currently undertaken with SFA) UEFA 'B', Youth Modules 1,2,3, FA Safeguarding Children, FA First Aid


Lead Coach - Craig Lynch

Craig is currently the Assistant Coach at the Kingsmeadow Football Academy, with his role as Lead Coach at the Durham Federation commencing Oct '17'. Craig has worked under Ross for the past 2 years now, developing an excellent working relationship and understanding. Craig has previously coaching in out of school sessions with Evolution for a number of years now and currently plays for Seaham Red Star in the Ebac Northern League. In 2012 Craig made a number of appearances for Sunderland in the Premier League under Steve Bruce.


Qualifications: 

UEFA B Licence, FA Level 2, FA Level 1 Futsal, FA First Aid, FA Safeguarding Children, FA Licenced Coach.

Fitness Coach - Anthony Errington

Anthony has joined the Evolution Academies team with a view to extending our expertise in strength & conditioning at Kingsmeadow and the Durham Federation, with relevance to professional clubs. Strength & Conditioning is a massive part of a players development and is included regularly within their curriculum within our Academies.Anthony is an ex professional with Bolton Wanderers, having played regularly for the U19's and the Reserve squad throughout his tenure at the club. Anthony has played for North Shields previously in the Ebac Northern League.


Qualifications: 

Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing, Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, Fa Level 1 Certificate in Coaching, Level 2 Exercise to Music, MMA Fitness & Conditioning, Group Circuit Training, Water Based Exercise, Sports Nutrition, Kettlebell Training & Boxercise.

Goalkeeping Coach - Lee Barrass

Lee has joined the KFA this year with his role from Evolution Goalkeeper Coaching transferring over to the Academy. Lee's role is to develop the Goalkeepers as individuals following the Academy model of creating players who are comfortable on the ball and can express themselves. Lee works weekly with all Academy goalkeepers in a group and individually spread across the working week. Lee is currently the Goalkeeper coach at Blyth Spartans 1st Team in the National League North.

KFA Player Liason - Dean Bolam

Dean has been a part of the KFA since the Academy opened its doors last year. Dean's role is an integral link between the School, players and Academy Manger to ensure all educational area's are being achieved by all of the KFA players. Dean is also Head of Key Stage 3 Standards at Kingsmeadow Community School, also delivering P.E. and BTEC Sport.


Qualifications:

B (Hons) in Sport within Coaching, PGCE in Secondary Education, FA Level 2, FA Youth Module 1, NUFC Academy Scout.
